Wild Rose, Poppy, Spiderweb

Description:

The bright noonday sun beat down on the poppy field near Wicken Fen in Cambridgeshire, England, making a high-contrast scene that would hardly record well on film.

Luckily, I had my macro gear and a white bedsheet with me, and there were some scrawny wild roses in the ditch.

It took about half an hour to set up, with the bellows underneath the tripod, and the top of the tripod serving as a tent-pole for the white sheet, which softened the harsh sunlight.

But now that I had what I wanted in the viewfinder, the tripod legs slowly began sinking into the mud, so I quickly fired off a shot, hoping it would be worth keeping. (Unfortunately, the spider got away!)
