Bear Claw Shell

Description:

My mom has a large shell collection, and many of them came from her friend and fellow teacher, Cora Thorn.

Many of those came from Cora's grandfather's shell collection, which he gathered while on vacation in Florida.

Although the name doesn't appear in any shell books we searched, this one was labeled Bear Claw. This name seems to come from troughs between the ridges on the back of the shell that form eight distinctive, three-toed paws.
